Thomas Baker
Thomas Baker Associate Faculty of Drums, Theory
Tom Baker is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
He has been working as a free-lance performer and educator in the New York area since 1978.

As a member of the Bill Molenhof Trio, Tom recorded extensively in Germany and performed concerts and clinics at colleges and universities throughout the United States. The trio was also featured at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the International Association of Jazz Educators annual convention, and the International Percussion Festival, Opole, Poland.

Tom has performed and recorded numerous times in Japan, and was featured at concerts and jazz clubs in Tokyo, Nara, Osaka, and Hokkaido. Other performances include the American Festival, Cairo, Egypt.

Tom continues to perform in the New York area and has recorded several CD’s including recordings with legendary drummer/percussionist Joe Chambers, and the late great jazz master Freddie Hubbard.

Since 1994, Tom has co-hosted a weekly jam session at Adobe Blues in Staten Island with The Wolfpack, a highly versatile band based in the blues, and in September 2012 was inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame.
Other New York area club appearances include: The Blue Note, Fat Tuesday’s, Seventh Avenue South, The Bitter End, Chicago Blues, Indigo Blues, Kenny’s Castaways, The Bar Next Door, and Trumpets.

Free-lance recording includes work at The Record Plant, Sony Studios, House of Music, Tedesco Studio, Systems Two Studios, and Dede Recording Studio, Tokyo.
